I haven’t ever purchased a Football Manager game but I’ve always wanted to, I heard that FM 13 is a big step down from its previous counterparts? My cousin has it and he says that its stupid and that if your tactics aren’t spot on and exactly on point, you will lose, doesn’t matter if you’re Chelsea and you’re playing against Hartlepool, you will still lose. I don’t mind if the match engine is a bit broken when you’re watching it because its still probably ten million times better than the FIFA one. Anyway, back to the question, if FM 13 worth the £17? Or should I just fork out an extra tenner and buy Far Cry 3?

I wonder what pro designers use to make 3D stuff and add some real live motions to even make it as a game. OK here’s the point: I wanna make my own 3D games with a good quality but I suck at programing. I am a novice! But thanks in advance.

I kind of know the basics of the 3D graphics engine, Cinema 4D, but I want to improve my 3D work. I want to be able to make things like leaves, water, abnormal shaped objects, video game useable characters and creatures. Especially i was wondering how I could make characters and creatures for an mmorpg game? Does anyone know a place I can go or have any advice?

I’m looking to get into game design and wanted to know of something that I could start learning with while saving up to build a computer for UDK. I’m looking for a 3d engine that is either outdated or has low enough requirements that I don’t lag heavily in debug mode. If it’s easy to use or has several tutorials, that would be awesome but the main thing is that it can run well on older PC’s

I’m making a 2d platformer for a video game class, and we need to find the best fitting engine for our needs. The game is going to be pure 2D with sprite based animations, and involve some advanced art effects hopefully have a high frame rate. A good example is to think of a game engine that could be used to recreate the game Braid or the game Limbo.

Currently we’re using UDK (Unreal development Kit) because we are in cahoots with some people from Epic Games, but using a 3d engine to make a pure 2d game is just adding a lot of extra unneeded steps. What are some other good options? We have 3 programmers working on this project too, so if there are scripting needs this is not a big issue. Thanks!

Doing an essay for college. I’ve got plenty of information regarding the growth of 3D game engines, but the internet seems to be a bit thin on the ground regarding 2D game engines and their evolution. Anyone aware of what the first prominent 2D game engine was named and developed by?

Without, stands/stadiums and just the pitch, the new 3D engine will be pretty useless!

I am programming an mmo in VB6, and I was wondering how to make cut scenes. I am wondering more of “how do I make them” as to “how can I insert them”. I would prefer (this is going to sound newbish) a free program that is easy to use, since I’m not to good at animation. I won’t be selling my game, so open source or royalty free is fine. I need it to be 3Dish (doesnt have to be 3D engine like Blender or anim8r).

I want to learn to create and program 3D games. I am completely aware that the process could take years and I am willing to take the time to learn properly. I do have 4 major questions.
    1. Although I am willing to learn programming, will I be at a disadvantage if I am not much of an artist?
    2. If I do need artistic skills what should I do to learn them?
    3. What programming languages would be best to for game creation and in what order should I learn them?
    4. Are there any online guides to help me learn programming languages and 3D game creation?

I want to use this to turn my car design drawings into 3d models. But in terms of quality, while I want it as good as possible, I’m just an amateur doing this as a hobby, not making videos for the marketing department of some big company. I need something with a reasonable learning curve and price. I was going to get 3Ds max until i saw that it would cost more than twice what my computer costs. If you know somewhere I could get an old version of 3Ds max for cheap that would be appreciated as well.

I have a good knowledge or VB.net and C# but not when it comes to game programming. I see a few books out there (Mathematics for 3D Game Programming and Computer Graphics, Game Engine Architecture) and some websites with high level general explanations of 3D engines but not sure what avenue is the best to go down to most effectively learn what I need to learn.

I’m looking for a 3d game engine that does not “require” coding/programing. I’m trying to make a TPS/FPS action adventure game with a mission select system simular to Armored Core. I’ve been browsing for a while looking for one but still can’t find one. What would help if there was something out there that revolves around TPS/FPS action adventure creation like how the Rpg maker revolves around Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy style rpg games.

    Much help is appreciated.

When I develop an object, world or animation in a 3D engine, such as Maya, the time my project takes to render is dependant on many things: lighting, poly count, textures… etc.

Does anyone know any information about how to make things render in less time, or any websites that could give me advice of how to avoid slow renders? Websites are best.

I’m doing this for a short essay and some personal research. Thank you.
I’m looking for ways to model an object so that rendering won’t take as long (such as using NURBS instead of polygons, or choosing certain lights)

    Torque game engine
    3D World Studio
    Caligari gamespace
3D gamemaker (prefer not to use it)
    gamestudio/A7

Which game engine is the best for a beginner, but has great graphics. Feel free to give me any other suggestions.

I’m looking for an engine that has a brush based mapping system. I’m willing to do any amount of coding so its okay if the engine requires large amounts of coding. Also the engine must support C++.
I forgot to mention I’m looking for an engine thats mainly for the first person perspective its okay if I have to code the first person perspective in though.
Something similar to a quake based engine like darkplaces.

Is the new Football Manager 2009 PC game worth buying? Thinking about treating myself to it for Christmas, especially seeing that it now has a new 3D Match Engine! Does this match engine enhance the enjoyment of the game, or would I be better off sticking with my older version of Football Manager, namely the 2007 version?

I haven’t tried OGRE yet, and my mother won’t approve of the ones that she has to install. I’m learning C# and C++, and would prefer it if it didn’t use to much of the programming language. I also would like it if it were a 3d game engine. Any ideas?

We are willing to create a game development studio and we’d like to sell our video games. We are about to get a game engine, and we want to know what is necessary(licenses) to be able to sell our games online? For a team of 8 developers, how much will getting a game engine like Torque3D or TheLawMaker cost? What will be the total cost(at most $5000 for the game engine) ? Also, can you recommend some 3D game engines(C++) under $5000 ?

I’m going to buy FIFA 11, but have never played any of the other FIFA games before except the 2010 World Cup one. Is there an option for unlimited budgets or something where even a team like Wigan could take Robinho away from Manchester City? Or is it more limited, and there isn’t an option like “force trades” in Madden. I’m not a cheater, just want to see if I can make a couple of sweet additions easier.

Hello, sir or madam. I’ve applied for an introductory course in Games Development as I aspire to be a gaming programmer or designer. Below is my personal statement, please let me know what you think. Thank you for your time!

    Personal Statement:
From an early age I have been an avid fan of computer games. As time has progressed I have become both fascinated and intrigued by the games industry. Every aspect truly engrosses me. My greatest aspiration in life is to become a gaming programmer. I already have a little experience in programming, I’ve created some of my own maps using the Unity 3D engine and implemented some basic things such as a basic AI, a health system and an attack system. I work well in small teams, I apply myself well, I always work to the best of my ability and I complete tasks in a timely manner. I believe the course at Adam Smith would be an excellent way to start my career in the games industry as I intend to progress to further education at University, preferably Dundee.
