I have verizon high speed. Verizon says it is always set at the same speed. So how can having firefox speed up my browsing? I have heard people say it does “speed up their browsing” but if your internet speed is already set not to change based on usage or number of people online at the time how can any browser speed up your net surfing? thank you.

I guess I sort of know how to use it, but I’m usually not sure if I should put a comma or a semicolon

    Like this sentence
There are 3 main parts to a browser; speed, privacy, and convenience

should I put a semi colon there or a comma?

I once found a cool website that would run some flash things and some java things and 3d games in the browser. And then it would give each browser points. It’s a long time ago and i wanted to try again with IE8 and safari 4. But i can’t remember the name of the website. Do you know a site that can do the same?
    Thanks

    Thanks in advance.

My computer is SLOW. Even switching between tabs in the browser takes like 10 seconds. Opening apps takes way longer than it should. I am still running XP and have run the free version of AVG to get rid of malware but when I open my task manager there is like 100 processs running. I know i dont need all that stuff but i can’t figure out how to get rid of them.

I know of WAP and GPRS, and I think WAP is 9.6 kbps, but I don’t know what speed GPRS is, or what other mobile internet services there are. I’m also interested in what each of these can view – WAP, and I think GPRS, can only be used to view WML pages. Are there any mobile internet services which can access all of the internet, not just specially written pages?

If you have any questions about my question, please message me before answering.

Well, I wanted to test a couple of my web browser’s speeds. Like, google crome, safari, firefox, opera etc. And I was just wondering, what kind of program do I have to download to test their speeds? Is there a specific name system that I would have to download in order to test my web browsers speed?

I’m new to the whole smartphone thing and I’d like to purchase a new Android OS model, but I can’t decided which may be better deal. I’m willing to spend around $200-230 on it, but it has to be through Amazon, as I have a gift card there.

    Desired features:
    - Good camera…I like to take pictures. Good video is also a plus.
    - Tethering…I’d like to be able to use it as a hot spot.
    - Good audio…I listen to A LOT of music and this will be my primary listening device.
    - Good browser speed…we all hate waiting for pages to load.
    - Good social media integration…I use Facebook and Twitter a lot for my work.

Other than that, I’d probably watch an occasional video on Netflix and check my email. I’m not much into games. Also, the phones size doesn’t matter to me much. Removable batter would be a plus, but I can forego for other features. And expandable memory would be great, but I think most phones have at least 16 GB and that should be plenty.

After initial research, I’ve come up with a few options

    - Samsung Nexus S (found one refurbished for $200…but not sure if refurbished is the way to go)
    - HTC One V (around $225)
    - Sony Xperia Sola (around $225)

Would love to get some feedback. Or if anyone has any other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!

There are many web-browsers out there. Some of them are faster, some are slower…

I want to know what makes one browser (lets say Firefox 5) faster than another browser (lets say Chrome 12)?

Note that my question is NOT which one is the faster!
    Thanks ahead,
    Yuval.

My Macbook Pro shows an average download speed of 20000 kbps. It is connected through wireless. My desktop, a Dell running windows 7, shows a dowload speed of about 3500 kbps. They are both connected to the same modem and router. The result is the same across multiple speed test sites.

After I delete the trojans and spyware, and reboot, once I download something, the download time is unbearably slow compared to before. I don’t know what is going on, what can I do so that my download speed goes back to being as fast as it did?
