Recently when I disconnect from an internet connection (by clicking the X in the upper right corner) the computer otherwise works ok but it will not reconnect to internet. It says “not responding.” If I restart the computer it works ok. Thank you, I have Internet Explorer on Windows 7. As soon as I closed my question I remembered (File and Exit) and found it works OK. So far I’ve had no troubles with any other application. If it turns out this is the beginning of more troubles, I’ll have your suggestions to work from. Thanks again.

I’m on a free university internet connection now, but I feel it is slow beyond anything. I want to set up this connection right, which at the moment can’t run full youtube videos in 10 minutes or more. What are the proper configuration step(s) to run the connection at an optimum speed?

I am using Firefox 3.06 and my OS is vista home premium. the main problem is when I’m browsing the internet is that whenever the browser asks for internet connection (although I’m already connected to wifi) all my pages which are still loading halt, or rather stop, until I cancel the question asked by the browser.

Okay, so I have hooked my computer up to my modem before and I had a excellent internet connection. I wanted to do it again and when I tried it would not work. Instead of being connected to the internet all I had was a local internet connection. I would like this better connection for some online games I play on so that other people wont lag to me and I wont lag to them. Thanks.

I just signed up for onlive, but every time i try to launch the app, it tells me my internet connection is not fast enough to produce good quality video and won’t let me play. I don’t care about the quality, so would it be possible to get around this and make it think that my internet connection is fast?

I want to know the speed with which I can access internet from my terminal. How can I do that? In windows if I place the mouse on the icon near the bottom I get the speed of LAN which is 100mbps. But how do I get the speed of internet connection? Is it true that when files are downloaded the speed is reduced?

I don’t know if this is possible, Because i know very little about computers, So if you need anymore information just ask><

Here is my situation. About a year ago. With the same wireless modem that i'm using now, My laptop was connected to the modem via an Ethernet cable, And my desktop was connected via a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter (WG111v3)

Now this worked perfectly fine, until one day – the laptop decided to stop working.

I found it recently, and after messing around a little bit with it, Got it to work.

The only problem is. A few months after the laptop stopped working for some mysterious reason, the internet connection stopped working on the desktop. This was because the Adapter had broken. So I used the Ethernet cable to connect the desktop to the modem.

(The modem is a SpeedStream6520 – And it's brand is "Siemens" If that helps at all!)

So now, I can't connect the laptop to the internet, because the Ethernet cable that i once used, is being used by the Desktop.

I have tried connecting the laptop with the USB adapter, to no avail. And yes, I did buy a new USB Adapter.

    I have tried this website,
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx

And as easy as it looks, I dont have any of the options displayed,

Such as "Network and Internet Connections", "Network Connections", or the "Wireless Networks" tab in the "Properties" window.

I dont have a router, So my question is. Is it possible to share my internet connection, and files, between both my laptop and my Desktop? If so, how?

P.S. My laptop and desktop are the same brand, HP. And both are running on Windows XP, But the deskop is on Windows XP Professional. The laptop has the options from the website, but for certain reasons it can't be my host computer. * my old computer is actually windows VISTA! :

I have bought a PS3 recently. I want to play FIFA 13. I have no internet connection. I am planning to buy the game. Will I be able to play the game without internet? I am not interested in online game. Only offline. Will I need internet during installation in PS3? Or can I start playing right away after inserting the disc?

To get rid of symantec, I used cleanwipe on my computer yesterday. However, I do not have internet connection today and I do not know how to get it back. I contacted my internet company (cox) and they reset the modem. However, I still cannot get on and it says a network cable is unplugged when I checked all the plugs to make sure they were in tight. I think it may be because of Cleanwipe because it was working fine yesterday.

I wasn’t able to participate in something because my internet connection didn’t work and I said I had to call someone to help fix it.

For someone who is supposed to be knowledgeable about network-related stuff, is there any legitimate reason to have to call to get it fixed rather than fixing it yourself? I need to explain to them why I couldn’t fix it myself

When I enable connection sharing out of my ethernet port, my wifi connection (internet connection I want to share) changes from “assigned by DHCP” to “manually configured” and does not work. How can I share my wifi to my xbox through my laptop with an ethernet cable? It used to work.

I have a very slow internet connection and every now and again it slows to a crawl because some or other applications are using it in the background – no clues in the system tray or task manager. Is there a way (maybe an app to download?) that I can track which apps are using my connection and how much they are downloading at a given moment?

I have a PC acting as a remote server, controlled through Teamviewer. However, the network/internet connection periodically drops out, requiring a restart to fix. Problem is, if there’s no internet connection, I can’t connect to Teamviewer, meaning I can’t tell the PC to restart. Is there a tool I can use so that the PC will automatically restart when it loses internet connectivity for a certain period of time? Thanks!

I buy video game systems to play games. I have never bought an internet connection for any of my systems. The only thing I use my PS3 and Xbox 360 for besides playing games is to watch DVDs and Blu-Rays. I can’t afford an internet connection and still get all the games I want so I want to know when will a version of the Xbox One come out that doesn’t require you to have an internet connection. And before you say it doesn’t require an internet connection Microsoft has said it does.

I went to a hotel a few months back, and it automatically loaded the internet connection program that was needed so I could use my laptop while I was at the hotel. Now, at home, my laptop still tries to use the hotel’s connection automatically each time I boot up my computer. I have to “repair” the connection, and then it works correctly, but this is getting annoying.
