I am looking into creating a custom tower that can handle all of my needs (not many). I want my tower to be connected to my 40in LCD via HDMI and would like to also include a blue ray drive.

    Main Uses:
Star Trek Online and The Old Republic.
    Online Browsing
    Blue Rays

I don’t do any video editing or stuff like that or plan on running multiple applications at once. I love beautiful graphics and want my games to look great; that being said I don’t want to break the bank. My budget is $700 – $800 (hopefully less). I’m willing to cut back in certain areas and upgrade later.

What I need to help on is deciding graphics card, motherboard, and processor. I have been looking mostly on ibuypower.com and cyberpowerpc.com. Any help would be great and thanks in advance.

I’ve been trying to install Star Trek: Online to my computer (now that it’s free to play), and am having a tough time getting it installed.
After it loads up, it proceeds normally and gives me a “Welcome to Star Trek Online Setup Wizard”.
Then it takes me to the agreement page. I click “Agree”.
Then it tells me to choose a folder, and any folder I chose still won’t let me proceed to hit “Next”! Does that have to do with the Gigabytes? (It’s telling me, Space Required: 3.5 GB Space available: 3.5 GB.
So why won’t it let me proceed from there? Anyone know?

Usually, in mmorpg’s that can only be bought in stores, they give players who register for the first time game play for free during a limited time. Is this true for Star Trek Online? If so,for how long?

Gene Roddenberry’s widow is well-known for having provided the computer voice for virtually every Starfleet vessel in Star Trek’s long history. What I don’t know, however, is whether she provided the computer voice for the new MMO, Star Trek Online. It /sounds/ like her, but I don’t actually know.

I know it is possible to add a non steam game to the library, but is it possible to use the DLC for it? Or doe’s it have to have been downloaded THROUGH steam?

I just recently downloaded star trek online and my character is always having issues such as when I run forwards my character would just lagg back to where he started running and interacting with AI is almost impossible because sometimes chatting with them runs smoothly and sometimes I wont even be able to talk to them. When my character is done lagging this I end up getting disconnected, its starting to really frustrate me, do you have any solutions for these issues and any feedback would be much appreciated.

I mean I understand the whole background to the Trill race but in Star Trek Online, they are two different races that you can choose from when you make characters. Although they are the same race, are there different stats between the two? I know that Trill can be chosen for free, but Joined Trill are a premium race.

I went through all sorts of problems when installing the game.

    1) The installer would stop working. It would give me an error and I would close it. Then I would try again and it would resume from the place it left off.
    2) Installer took FOREVER to get done. Then kept messing up (as seen above.)
    3) Finally got to setup wizard to make a shortcut on my desktop. That took FOREVER! Then I closed the Wizard, and saw that there was no shortcut on my desktop. Also, my computer showed no signs of holding the game. (I tried searching.) The game didn’t even play.
I used the Wizard a second time (IT TOOK FOREVER) and got the same result. But this time, I checked the box that said “Launch Game.” Then closed it.
So I played the game, and I made my character and got through the tutorial and everything. Then I closed it for a few minutes. Then I realized I wouldn’t be able to open it again, since there was still no trace of it on the computer.
Somehow, my brother managed to make a desktop shortcut. I clicked on it, and the STO loading screen and log in page comes up, but it won’t load. It says in a box in the front “Loading.” But it isn’t loading. I have it up right now, as I write this.
I’ve tried using it a few times.

How can I fix the game, so I can play it? IT WAS REALLY FUN!
Almost worth all of this trouble!

Intel Pent 4 3.0 (single core)
    2 gigs dualsynched
    Radeon 4870 500mb

    Thanks for reading!

I would like a good gaming laptop for about $1000 or under. I’d like it to have good gaming capabilities, able to play games like Halo, Portal, Knights of the Old Republic, Battlefield, or MMORPGs like Star Trek Online or Word of Warcraft.

I have been trying to download this game for 2 hours and whenever it loads up like 10MB it goes to a message saying resuming download of star trek online. Then it crashes and I have to restart the download process again to even keep the download going. What can I do to fix this problem?
It’s not a why my life sucks moment its just a little problem. And I feel that comment was a little unneeded like a passive aggressive comment.

    Hey folks,

I’ve recently started having problems with high end games crashing on my system, and I could use some help troubleshooting. Programs are SWTOR, DCUO, Star Trek Online, Fallen Enchantress and Rift. I’m not having problems with Titanquest, Torchlight 2 and Civ 4. All of these programs, with the exception of Fallen Enchantress, have run great in the past.

Now, the programs play for 10-20 minutes and then crash to a black screen, with the audio hanging. I have to do a hard reset on my system to reboot. I’ve tried rolling back my video drivers, I’ve ran windows 7′s memory test and I’ve dusted the inside of my computer. I have not yet wiped my OS and set up a clean system. I set up HW Monitor and ran Furmark and my GPU’s heat maxed out around 95-100c.

I’m not sure if my system is overheating (all of my hardware is the same as before when the programs worked) or if my PSU is dying. It doesn’t feel like a driver/software issue, but I’m not positive. I’d appreciate some input.

I’m running Win 7 64-bit on a Intel Xeon X3460 2.8 GHz, 8.00 GB of DDR3 ram, EVGA P55SLI E657 mobo, Geforce GTX 295, on-board audio. I’ve 2 hard drives, an SSD drive for my OS and the big games, and an SATA hard drive for data and more casual games. My PSU is rated for 950w. This system was homebuilt almost 4 years ago.

    Any suggestions?

I’m trying to download the Star trek online Demo but I have created a Cryptic account in the past, but I cannot remember my account name. How can I get this information sent to the email I used to sign up with? or would it matter if I were to use a different email to create another account? I’m just going to be using only one email and account.

I had no trouble downloading {through Steam} and paying for the new Star Trek online game. I even created my character, etc just fine, but when I go to actually play the game it just sits on the same screen for hours. I get music and words at the bottom of the screen that are constantly changing, but my ship is just docked at the ‘space station’ and I can’t play the game. What could the problem be?

Well ive download the Star Trek Online Demo and it was quite big for a demo. So i want to know if the demo is the full version but its locked and has limited features and when you buy it you can activate the key and you have the full game. I just want to know if that’s how it works because it would save me a bit of money because i could just buy the card without the disc which is way cheaper?

After I finished a mission for Star Trek Online, another one came up from Admiral Quinn. Well, I didn’t click accept right away, and I pressed U for the log that has your stats and stuff like that. When I closed the stats, I didn’t see the mission. Is there a way I can find it again? I really need it back. Please help me!

Okay so I got Star Trek online from the web, NOT FROM STEAM. And I noticed on steam they have a Starters pack on the page of the STO in their store.. I know it is possible to add a non steam game to the library, but is it possible to use the DLC for it? Or doe’s it have to have been downloaded THROUGH steam?

I am unable to get a credit card, but I want to play this game. Are there time cards for this game, similar to the ones available for World of Warcraft, Aion, and Star Trek Online?

    Thanks.

Usually, in mmorpg’s that can only be bought in stores, they give players who register for the first time game play for free during a limited time. Is this true for Star Trek Online? If so,for how long?

Its been years since the last time I bought a computer and I’m having trouble finding the right PC for me because I’m so out of the loop and detached.

It will be used primarily in the living room on our main TV. Netflix, movies, internet browsing, E-Mail, etc will be the main function but I occasionally play a game or two – nothing of the latest and greatest though, more like Civilization or Star Trek Online.

I’d like to get an appropriate commercially available PC that has potential to be upgraded in the future if my needs change but I definitely want to spend less than 1000. I’d be happier under $750.

I don’t even know if I am truly being pragmatic and realistic. Suggestions?

Gene Roddenberry’s widow is well-known for having provided the computer voice for virtually every Starfleet vessel in Star Trek’s long history. What I don’t know, however, is whether she provided the computer voice for the new MMO, Star Trek Online. It /sounds/ like her, but I don’t actually know.
