Both of my wireless devices (laptop and iPod) connected to the router at my house have terrible download speeds around .2 Mbps, basically no internet access at that rate. However, the one computer we have connected using a wired connection to the router has fine internet. His computer says he’s apparently getting 100Mbps. Regardless of how fast it really is (I don’t think it’s that fast) youtube videos load almost instantly for him, webpages instantly, game updates download at normal speeds, the whole deal.

This problem began this morning, and was originally working fine all week. My laptop and iPod work completely fine at my other house, but at that house I have Verizon compared to Comcast here. The only thing I could imagine is this. At the moment we have people staying over and we have a total of 8 wireless devices connected to the router (6 iPods/iPhones and 2 laptops) so is that somehow slowing us all down because of all the noise (not sure what the proper term would be) the router receives from the many devices. I don’t think this is the problem since I was getting fine internet two days ago, but there were 6 devices connected to the router compared to 8.

So I guess my question about the whole deal is, are there any reasons (I’m sure there’s more than one possible problem with these circumstances) you could lead me to further investigating on my own where many wireless devices have almost no internet connectivity while the one wired device is working completely fine.

One more side thing that I really don’t think is the problem, my dad gave away our internet password to our neighbors because they wanted to use our internet while they were at the pool because our house is close enough to connect to. I didn’t add any possible devices (if they happened to give it to even more people) to my list of 6-8 devices using wireless connection because the pool is only open before 9 PM and I never get on until after 11 PM. However, if they did happen to give it to other people to use at the pool, I’m worried one person who knows how to hack is trolling us since he has easy access into our network. I don’t think this is the problem since I used wireshark periodically throughout the day to see what traffic was going through our router and no unwanted IP addresses are using our internet at this time or earlier today when people were at the pool anyway. So I don’t think that is the problem anyway, even if this is a thing to do (prohibit only internet connections to a router), but just wanted to throw that out there.

Thanks in advance for any help to solving the issue! Also nobody is doing any big downloads at the house (no torrents or servers running or anything) the only thing the wired computer is doing is playing dota (a computer game if you don’t know) basically all day, so he’s not exactly hogging the internet connection and no other devices can even get a fast enough connection to do anything, so they’re not using the internet much at all. Anyway, thanks!

At home I can access Yahoo.com com from any computer or tablet. I cannot access mail.yahoo.com at all from any computer/tablet at home. The same is true on the devices of visitors; meaning family has com home to visit and the mail page is unavailable to them as well. The home computers have been verified free of viruses/malware/spyware. To further eliminate the viruses/malware/spyware theory… again, friend or family computers see the same thing when they visit. I can access my Yahoo mail account anywhere else I go, whether I take my tablet to another wifi connection or I use a pc at someone elses house, work, or library. After the Yahoo hack, I was forced to reset my password but that has been the only Yahoo hurdle I am aware of. My thought is the possibility that we are blocked by IP. Is that possible? We use WildBlue satellite internet. We have unplugged the modem for several minutes at a time then plugged it back in and still have the same issue. I don’t know if WildBlue uses static or dynamic IP’s or what their lease time is… and this is just a theory anyway. I would appreciate any help on this I can get. Frustrating to not be able to access my email from home. Thanks, Eileen

I’m doing Futher Maths in Year 10. We only have one lesson a week, and it’s basically advanced maths for high ability students but we have no revision tools at home! The school ordered books but they aren’t coming so are there any online resources I can use for me to catch up with what we’ve done in class?:) Thanks.

My account was hacked. How do I force log out of all my logged in sessions? I change my password after hacked, but it is not clear if my open accounts will still remain opened. If so I wish there is a way to force logout of all my open sessions. My yahoo email account was hacked.

I just viewed my network connections and discovered an unknown name on there. I’ve called the internet provider and changed the password but I’m wondering how they got the password in the first place and can they get it again. There is a lot of software available for password hacking (see youtube) and I want to be able to stop this kind of hack on my system. I can’t tell if I’m using WEP, WPA or WPA2 and have no idea how to change it and what the consequences will be for me as a user. I’ve tried looking at all the network settings but can’t find anything to tell me what I’m using. Also even if I change does this type of software still enable WPA2 hacking and is there anything I can do (Windows updates etc). I have two computers and two laptops connected to my network that the family use. As much detailed info as possible would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can someone just try millions of different password combinations to get into my Yahoo email account? Most sites seem to disable accounts when a few wrong passwords are entered. I just tried entering 20 different incorrect passwords to sign into my Yahoo account and it just kept allowing me to make additional attempts.

A screen came up that looked official from Yahoo telling me that my “password has been compromised.” It asked me to type in my “old” password and then to pick a :new” one. So I naively did these things thinking that it was authentic. Then I realized that this “Yahoo” screen was probably fraudulent and someone was tryig to get my password to hack into my email. Would you look into this? When I tried the “new” password that I picked, it did not work. My old one still works.

I am pretty well rounded when it comes to networks and computers. How easy would i be (if i have all the passwords) to hack into my home computer and see whats taking place on it? Preferably id like to see my screen but packets work. Guess i should have added. Im not home and i wanted to check in at my home computer. Just to make sure no ones on it dont i need a program installed on it to VPN?

I use my iPad for banking, credit card and other transactions, so I’d appreciate some tips to keep both this tablet and my iPhone safe on wireless connections. I know that iOS is considered safe but I have experienced the perils of weak security on supposedly safe handheld devices. My Android-OS installed Samsung Galaxy tablet got infected several times this year, which is why I made the decision to shift to Apple electronics. I want to keep this iOS device safe with the highest internet security possible. How can I do that?

My boyfriend lent his laptop to his friend and his friend put a password on it but forgot it. Not to mention he was under the influence when he put it on. Is there any way to recover the password or hack into the computer to change the password or take it off

I’m sending a password-protected spreadsheet to my HR department. I put a password on it because it has salary info. I know it would be better to call them and tell them the password, but that’s not possible in this case. If I send them a separate email with the password, does that un-do any benefit of using a password? If someone hacks email, would they get all my email as opposed to just some?

    Thanks.

My mum have this worry of her credit card passwords being hacked by viruses or spywares in the computer and therefore disallows me to shop online.

I wish to know how possible is it that the password will be leaked through these viruses or spyware.

Please elaborate if you know exactly the answer

    :) thank you
